The Family Living model is for Core Members who need daily support through prompting, reminders, and modeling, as well as some direct support for daily needs.

CASS is currently in the process of developing this model, but take a look at the guidelines below for an idea of who may be successful at this level of support.


Family Living is designed for Core Members with the following combination of abilities and support needs:

  • May require assistance in accessing bathroom facilities due to mobility needs, but must be able to clean themselves

  • May need to be prompted to shower and/or need help accessing the shower, but is able to clean themselves

  • May require prompting or modeling and minimal assistance for self-grooming

  • Able to feed themselves and may need help portioning their own servings

  • Needs guidance and assistance in planning, preparing, and shopping for meals

  • Requires assistance with transportation to get from Point A to Point B

  • May need prompting and reminders to take medication on their own

  • May need prompting and reminders to be respectful of personal space

  • Able to make basic needs known

  • Capable of reaching out to the right people during an emergency


The support provided to Core Members at the Family Living level includes 5 hours of Steward support, 7 days per week (2-3 hours in the morning, 2-3 hours in the evening); prompting and reminders for daily living skills with minimal hands-on support; support with meal prepping, laundry, and house-keeping; assistance with transportation arrangements; nightly house meals; and access to CASS staff.
